Bhutan's Black-necked Crane Festival and More

Dear Readers,

Here is one travel blogger's story about  his trip to Bhutan in 2011. The site provides some great travel information as well as some unique photographs of wildlife, landscapes and festivals. My favourite are the photos of Capped Langur and of the Black-necked Crane Festival. These photos are also a good resource to get an idea of what the sleeping arrangements might be like if you plan on doing a trek after the 2014 ISE congress.

Enjoy!

  1. Wow, it is great to get this perspective on Bhutan. I hope I get to go. Birders are a unique-lot...they obsess over the details of every bird but just gloss over the fact that they saw Takin and don't even bother to ID the goat-critter!

Hm...Good to know that bringing your own coffee is a must if you're not a fan of instant.

    Thanks for posting.

    1. Dave,

Thanks for taking in interest in Bhutan, will you be attending the 2014 congress? I'm looking forward to learning about all these unique mammals you mention. I had never heard of a Takin before reading this.

Also, Thanks for informing readers about the coffee situation. If you are adventurous you can try butter tea instead of coffee; my Bhutanese colleagues tell me butter tea is delicious.

      Thanks for reading,

      Olivia

    2. I would like to attend. Speaking of Takins, WWF just made available the following picture of one: http://www.flickr.com/photos/world_wildlife/8802813298/in/set-72157633599663129/?wwftw1
