Participant Testimonial: Weijuan Huang

"I am Weijuan Huang from China. My experiences of pre-congress workshop in Montpellier 2012 was really unforgettable. It's my first time to go abroad, to attend  international workshop and to know the significance of ethnobiology. Before that, I was hesitated on the crossroad whether to go on the career path of my major ethnobotany.  After the workshop, I was realized that ethnobotany is really a useful discipline and tool to provide some ways or thoughts to find more plant resources, which not only means a lot to human beings but also makes the  indigenous people proud of their traditional culture. The workshp enlarged my horizon to do research on ethnobotany and gave me valueable opportunity to know new friends about what they do, what we had in common or difference in the study field and what we can learn from each other and how to build multual cooperations to develop some program on ethnobotany. There are much to say, but in all, I have to say thank you all joining in the workshop. It's you that make me not alone in the career path of  studying ethnobiology.

 Best wishes,
Weijuan Huang"

Participant Testimonial: Jigme Dorji

"The second pre-congress workshop in Montpellier, France was opportunity for me to meet many young scholars from different regions of the world. What I like most about the workshop was active engagement to learn things from each other through busy conversation. To me, the pre-congress workshop can be a forum that will help prepare society’s (ISE) next generation of responsible citizen. I see great opportunities for ISE to engage these emerging scholars in the interest of strengthening institution. I really enjoyed being a participant for the workshop and visiting Europe for the first time.

Hope to see you all in Bhutan!

Past Workshop Participants' Testimonials

We will display a series of posts called "Past Workshop Participants' Testimonials". We hope these testimonials will be helpful to people thinking of attending the Pre-congress Workshop in Bhutan in 2014. To start, let's hear from Evelyn Roe, a participant of the 2012 Pre-congress Workshop in France.

"The 2012 Pre-Congress workshop was my first opportunity to meet other emerging ethnobotanists, as I've been working alone as a freelance researcher for many years. I found it inspirational, supportive, stimulating and thoroughly enjoyable. It made me certain that I wanted to do a Masters, and it also placed me on an imaginary 'spectrum' of ethnobotanical research: more holistic than fragmentary. Immediately after the Congress,  I made a successful application for a place on the MSc in Holistic Science at the wonderful Schumacher College in the UK, where I am now studying.”

Looking forward to Bhutan!
Best wishes,
Evelyn Roe"
