If you want to catch a glimpse of Bhutanese landscapes,
experience what it is like to trek at elevations over 4000 meters above seal
level among yaks, Dzongs (Buddhist temples), and prayer wheels, watch the first
38 minutes of Michael Palin’s travel documentary: Bhutan to the Bay of Bengal.
After viewing this, I was left with a profound respect for
trekking in the cool mountain air and a desire to taste Yak meat served with
Bhutanese red rice spiced to perfection with chilies. Also, you can get a
glimpse of Paro, the town you will arrive in if you fly into Bhutan on the way
to the congress.
Enjoy,
Olivia Sylvester
