Faces of Ethnobiology: Meadhbh Costigan

Photo taken by Yuri Tendland

My name is Meadhbh Costigan. I was born in Ireland. I am now working at the University of Zurich, Switzerland. Three key words to describe my research would be; ritual, incense, and phylogenetics. I became an ethnobiologists so I could learn more about the ritual use of plants and its influence on health. My most memorable experiences would be from fieldwork, for example in the cloud forests of Honduras where I saw rich biodiversity for the first time. For the foreseeable future, I plan to research in this field and to build lasting connections with small scale communities wish to share their knowledge.
