[EmergingEthnoNetwork] Re: Hola

Hola Elsa,

There was an old website called MOLIS (minority online info service or something like that) for looking for jobs. Would be worth a look.

Sorry to hear you had to come back from Peru, but I'm sure it's hard to be so far from your family.

Take care,
Nat

Hola Nat:

Me da mucho gusto saber de ti y over all to know that you are doing fine especially with chocolate business. Congratulation!  It seem very, very interesting since I never have heard or seen any chocolate with a such variety of tastes such as guayaba and chocolate.

I am in Chicago now. I came back from Peru, because my daughter. It was not easy to help her from there. She needs close some moral support and other things that mom provides. I wish I can do my Ph D. but these days, I need to provide my daughther with expenses.

Eating Peruvian dishes in Honolulu. Wow! you are introducing foreing food there!. How in the world you took Peruvian seeds to Honolulu?

I am so sorry to hear that you received 4 linked request. I did once and this is my address http://www.linkedin.com/pub/elsa-n-meza/1a/1a3/43b.

I came back from Peru and staying in Chicago. Guess what? I was looking for a job, and to tell you the truth it is kind of hard because I have no profesional network here. So, that is one of the resason why I sent you the Linked request. Now, I was wondering if you please could write a recomendation for me at linkedin. You were my professor, you know a little bit about my strenght sand weakness. Please, let me know if you please heard something about any open position where I can use my knowledge. It does not matter if it is in a different State than Illinois or even if I need to do international trip to tropical areas.

The year that I left Lehman College I could not apply to the Field Museum because that open position was at my husband department. A couple can not work in the same institution. I Colombian lady from Florida took the position.

Finally, by any chance do you know some web pages where I can look for job in our area?  Thank you very much for your help. Don't forget that if you come to Chicago, here you have a house to stay.

I am in Honolulu, Hawaii right now finishing up my postdoc with one last trip to SE Asia (Vietnam, Laos, & Thailand) in November for a conference and a few more data points. I have also started a chocolate company called Madre Chocolate with a blog about sustainable cacao and chocolate from its birthplace in Central America: http://madrechocolate.com. Let me know what you think!

I've been talking to John Janovec at BRIT and Los Amigos research station near Puerto Maldonado and also the chief of my former field site in Ucuayli and former head of AIDECEP, Raul Casanto  about growing cacao and vanilla in Peru and making chocolate down there. What do you think of this possibility? Can we put Peru back on the map for cacao for fine chocolate? Do you have any resources to hook up Raul with seedlings for his community to get started in Paititi growing cacao? Additionally my friend Conrad Feather of Shinai Serjali is starting a cacao demonstration garden in Loreto somewhere for local farmers to build form, so it seems like there's a lot of exciting things happening with cacao in Peru now! I'm hoping to build from some models of beneficial chocolate companies like Kallari Chocolates http://www.kallari.com/chocolate2.html

Oh, I got 4 "linked in" requests from you a month back, and I accepted the last one as I wasn't sure if the other 3 were real or what, but let me know if you have different accounts on there or there was some other reason there was 4 requests and I'll respond to the others.

We're growing Hoja Santa, maracuya, and maiz morada here now, so we get to have taste Peruvian dishes like ceviche con maracuya and chicha morada more regularly. I'm still trying to see if I can grow bijao to make the delicious patarashca, but you say the taste is mostly from the hoja santa, not bijao, right?

Let me know how you're doing and what you've been up to! How's your family?

Take care,
Nat
