Heading into your last few days or weeks of your internship? The following tips can make it count:
- Review your original goals for applying for this internship. Have you met those goals? For example, you wanted to learn how the company set up a contract with a customer or vendor. Have you asked your supervisor to show you? If everyone seems "too busy" ask for something measurable, give some time frames and offer that to do it over lunch or coffee.
- Ask for a letter(s) of recommendation and not at the last minute.
- Think about what you might take away for your personal portfolio -- a newsletter article you wrote, an invitation you designed, etc.
- Write your own evaluation of your internship with positive and constructive feedback.
- Make sure the company has a way to find you a year from now and whether you would be interested in working for them. Someone once told me that they had a great intern who they lost touch with but who they wished could be hired for a job that just came up.

Al Jazeera Fall Internship
Al Jazeera Network's Communications and International Relations department in Washington D.C. is looking for interns to join our team in the Fall. The Network's English language international news channel, Al Jazeera English, is expanding its outreach and communications efforts in the U.S. to educate people about the channel is and the kind of work we do. Daily responsibilities include media monitoring, expanding and updating lists of partners and supporters, research for potential campaigns, and assistance with event planning and logistics. What kind of intern are we looking for? Someone who knows about Al Jazeera English and believes that more Americans should be watching.
