The Department of Cultural Anthropology invites applications for a tenure-track faculty appointment in medical anthropology. The appointment will be made at the Assistant Professor rank; the successful candidate will be jointly appointed in Duke's Global Health Institute, with activities split between Cultural Anthropology and this interdisciplinary Institute. SALARY: Commensurate with qualifications and experience. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Theoretical and geographical areas are open, but we are especially interested in scholars working in low or middle income countries in one or more of the following areas: medicine and human rights; poverty and global health; critical studies of science, technology, medicine and society; migration studies. We also encourage applications from those with joint Ph.D/M.D. degrees. The Ph.D. must be in hand by July 1, 2011.
